It's time for the 2nd (Becoming Annual) Northeast Fall Meet! As we build our CKs and our club, the meets are growing. We expect at least 5 running, racing CK's this round, maybe more. C'mon Down. Nick Walters has secured a beautiful private park setting with hills, trees, water, and plowed roadways for a course of almost a mile around. Yowza! As before, the timing is approximate but something like this:

Saturday morning about 9-10 AM: arriving hordes
Saturday morning til about Noon: meet and greet, set-up and test runs (and fix as needed)
Saturday at Noon-ish: LUNCH!, let's eat
Saturday after noon: let's race! Several heats as practical!
Saturday later: Run 'em some more, fix 'em as needed, pack 'em, sit and gab, plan next event.

Other details:

Rain Date: Sunday October 7 - JC will email weather decision by Friday.
Some camping available on request (at Pennywise Plantation: shop & alternate site also, if needed)

Update September 23:

Fellow Northeast CK fans,

Currently, we have 12 intending to come play at our meet October 6, with another 2-4 maybes. We’ll have at least 4 CK’s (or functional in-process rides) to drive and share. Nick has the grill all ready to fire up and we’ll have the cookable vittles for as many as have signed up, but you might want to bring your preferred beverages and any fun snackage or side dishes you’d like to share.

Current event plans include some touring runs to get used to the long course Nick has laid out, then some real runs! Plus the usual repair sessions, of course.

DON’T FORGET YOUR HELMETS, DRIVERS!

We’ll have gasoline and (if I remember it) some extra air pressure. Bring your camera/phone, questions, ideas, any spare parts you’d like to trade off, and a good fun-loving attitude.

See ya there!

Very excited to check out the action! Was contemplating trying to put together a basic kart in the next few weeks but have come to my senses after searching for suitable wheels and adding up the re$t. Maybe better to spread out a build over the winter. I hope its ok if I show up to just watch, look and learn.

Well THAT was fun. For just a bit, to the devil with the grownup world! The Northeast Cyclekart gang (not organized enough to call us a 'club') held the 2nd Probably Annual Fall Meet yesterday. The weather was decent. Nick Walters hosted at a secluded hilltop park-like setting with pavilion, lake and lots of challenging routes through field and wood. Five running karts appeared, plus one in-progress project. About 20 people present all told, and all who wanted to got to drive at least one. The narrowness and roughness of most paths prevented any real overtaking at speed, so in lieu of wheel-to-wheel racing, we ran time trials and chase tours on a modified route that removed the muddiest and steepest parts. Nick made the fastest time at 2:09, followed by yrs trly at 2:30, and others at 3 minutes and up. There are some pix on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/john.corey.3781 . GoPro video posted too, at https://youtu.be/CnKGSVsd94wandhttps://youtu.be/FF1YBxlcGIk
