We had a fellow email us with photos of the Mini-Indy he built from our plans back in 1976! This is an original Mini-Indy, not even the Mini-IndyII

Very cool to see, and he posted a vid on Y-tube. The sound brought back such memories for me, instantly. The Mini-Indys sound a bit different from the CycleKarts (not much, but I certainly hear it.)

Anyway, I thought it was very neat of him to restore it after 38 years and even nicer to share it!

Mike

Ooops: I forgot to add the vid link...

Hello, Mike!
Nice to see that short film about old Mini-Indy racer running again!
Is time really flying?

I remember when with Pete I discussed that racer, in 3 variants as I know? I forgot some facts and think to ask you, but that fellow gave answers at the end of his film.
I know that I have somewhere short film got from Pete, but couldn't find it now. I think that it was a promotion of a new model of Mini-Indy racer, maybe model III?
Until then, this from YoutTube could be interesting:

For sure that there are various ways to have fun with small motorised vehicles?
Do you have some experience in driving anyone of designed and constructed?

Regards,
Zoran

Hi, Zoran,

You likely saw the little vid Peter and I made up at the top of Carmel Valley. We did the Mini Indy 3 prototype in my patio and it was a fun project to work on. It's still waiting to come out, and it will, eventually. I got pretty creative on sorting out how to adapt bicycle brake systems to the 1" go-kart axle we use on the CycleKarts, but it worked. And actually I think it stops far better than the CycleKarts (better tire contact.) It's fun. Same power set up as the C-K, but no torque converter needed, and it goes nicely (as the vid in Texas shows me driving it about.)

I didn't help with the design of the earlier ones, as I was 10 and 12 when the Mini-Indy and Mini-IndyII were done, but I drove them a lot. THat's me in the black-and-white shot. The white car with blue stripe was one of our builders from the early '80's. The bare plywood car was done as an electric version, a few years before the Mini-Indy 3, and it wasn't right and we scrapped it.

The bottom shot is the Mini-Indy 3 in my patio just after we finished it...
