“Whitney Straight Maserati”
The Whitney Straight Maser was started in June of '03, along with Brandt Bate's ERA. Brandt finished his up in good style, but the poor Maser has been languishing for a decade...It was pushed aside due to a divorce, then it just fell between the cracks as other projects became more important. At some point, it started becoming a donor car for parts, and now needs a lot of stuff. Really, it should be either finished or scrapped, and that decision will certainly come this next year...It's not a bad start for a project, and actually is the best engineered of all the C-Ks we've done so far...We'll see if having it back in a studio space will give the push to finish this car!

Please do not scrap this CK as it is a very important chapter in the CK story.

I would love to see this finished, wondering if it will be the original blue and white or italian
red. Suppose we will have to wait and see.

Thanks for the encouragement! I grew up playing with the W.S. Maser toy which my father
made for his first toy book, and it was red...I have never too much been a fan of the
white/blue paint scheme of the car, and neither was Whitney Straight, apparently. They
were (are?) the national colors of the US, and early on he was still either required or
thought he should paint the car those colors. As I read, he painted it black as soon as he
could, and which the car is today. When I started the car, it was going to be in Prince Bira's
blue/yellow. It'll either be that or the black...

That's a good looking kart, any update on it?

I'm afraid no CycleKarting these days. No track and other stuff going on, so the cars remain tucked away, for now.
