In reply to # 37287 by 1908Rick Any news on Tieton this year? I have a lot of planning to do and the exact dates would be nice to know, since my wife needs to get her request for time off submitted soon. Also, is this a two or three day event? When do guys typically show up? Are there motels in the area? Any info would be great.
Hi Rick
Yes lots of accommodation in Yakima 15 minutes away.
Friday is my favourite day of the Event!
Everyone is arriving, and for most they are seeing each other for the first time in a year.
Karts are being tuned.
Everyone is trying out others CKs.
Lots of driving around town......last year the did some group parade laps.
Beer is been consumed, lots of lies being told..............it is GREAT!thumbs upsmileys with beer
Sunday was a disappointment last year, as there was no Gordon Bennett race, but hopefully they will get the permits or whatever for it again.
We really look forward to meeting you and seeing your Miller!smiling bouncing smiley

Haven't seen it mentioned before Dave, but how much are the entrance fees
for the weekend?
And can you find out if it's still going to be an invitational event only?
I've often wondered it it were thrown open to all comers, just how many
Cyclekarts would show up?
I often think to compare the yet unnamed, relatively unorganized Cyclekart
bunch to the hobbies of go karting or homebuilt airplanes. I remember clearly,
the first go kart I saw in a Car Craft magazine. This here guy out in California
had built this contraption after hours from scrap that he picked up while working
for Frank Kurtis, which he powered with an old West Bend lawnmower engine.
From Art Ingels running round a parking lot with a couple of his buddies in the
evening, grew this go kart world we know today.
I can also recall joining the EAA back in the mid-70's when Sweetie face
and I were taking flying lessons. The homebuilt airplane movement was
still only a handful of hobby guys. Papa Paul had officially formed the EAA
a few years earlier and in the short decade or so it had nearly out grown
it's home outside of Milwaukee. Today EAA is the host to some of the
biggest events in this country.
I know a lot of the member of the Cyclekarting community don't want
to see the hobby grow for one reason or another. But I for one hope
that we luck out and someone with a passionate interest, the
organizational skills and the time, takes the reins and push
the hobby forward.
I may be wrong, but I'll bet that may have been what originally fueled
the Vintage Kart Co. start up. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to
be any interest in, wrapping the homebuilt Cyclekart guys into their
business plan other than to supply us with parts. It would really be
grand, with their organizational skill if they were to sponsor a few
invitational events in the South West, similar to Tieton, which
included homebuilt karts.

Denny, get your old bones on an airplane so that you arrive in Seattle the Friday morning of the tieton weekend and I'll pick you up on the way! We'll shoe horn you into the gipsy or legion so you can get some seat time and mingle with everyone. Come on out!

Hi Denny
My guess is that it will be June 15 & 16th or 22 & 23rd.....probably the latter.
And last years the entrance fee was $200.00 per team.
The event was also "open" last year, and "Not" by "Invitation Only", but was
screened by "Application Acceptance" I do believe ....I could be wrong??confused smiley
Dates and Registration forms are usually sent out at the end of January.
So be patient!
Good Roads

Hell Justin, you wouldn't get me up in one of those things for love nor money,
life's to short at this stage of life to gamble with it.
But really.....if I ever made it out to Tieton it would be with kart and some spares in tow.

Thanks Woody, that's not to bad for shuttin' down a whole town for three days, insurance
included. I've talked about taking a trip with mother out to visit relatives in Phoenix, (Goodyear)
and it would be nice to drive out and drop her off, then drive on up to WA. for the weekend.
Well, time will tell. Ya know.....at my age I might not make it to summer.....but.....it would
be nice if I do.

I honestly don't know if they have the deal nailed down with the city/insurance thing yet.
It's year by year, and for reasons unknown to me they never seem to be able to get it sorted out
much in advance.

I realize it's sore subject but, there's no other game in town like it.

The dates now shown on the Mighty Tieton events website now shows
June 21-23 2019.
That should be firm as they have other events on the weekends before and after.

Well, that really sucks. I may not be able to make it, then. Guess it depends on the budget.

Well, it's always been June. At least it's later this time.
There's the target. Confirmed.
