Had a crazy thought, but I assume it could only work if several people wanted to participate.
I have been thinking about reaching to a group that does autocross here in the northwest....

How many would actually be interested in this?

Would you be interested in a whole season with points with trophies? Would you want to just attend one event per year? Maybe include points from slymdog into a points season total?

Just thinking as the race season is nearly appon us!

I'd do it.
This thing sits around way too much!

Once I get rolling (if that ever happens??eye rolling smiley I will be allover it!thumbs upthumbs up
My distraction of the day, was to get back to work on the "CycleKart Trailer".......built
three of the four doors today and hinged the forth that was already built.
This trailer will allow for me to come to an event with 3 CycleKarts on board with
enclosed sleeping facility.
Thus, making it easy to attend!

Awesome! I reached out to some that shall not be named as well, might have a decent showing.

Contacted a group that puts on an annual autocross season to see if they're interested in hosting a group of us

I never thought about "Autocross" as it is new to me.
But, I have just become a member of our local British Car Club this past summer, and they seem to have
a group within a grouping Autocross only 30 miles from me.
Our CycleKarts might just fit in???.........really sounds like some thing to pursue!
Look how the "Dirt Oval" thing became such a good fit for our versatile little machines?smiling bouncing smiley

I think I can.
Only one thing. If it's an SCCA deal they might get pissy about our lack of certain safety gear.
If they view us basically as gokarts, it'll probably be fine.
Otherwise....

Going to look into that tomorrow, but sounds not too uptight. There's hope!

When I really want to test stuff I've got this huge parking lot behind a vacant wharehouse where I set
up a bunch of cones and have at it. Lots of fun. That's where I found out the Ferrari could be spun out 360deg
on dry pavement without going over! Spooky.

Just a reminder, seat belts are NOT a safety feature in cyclekarts that have no rollover protection/bar.

As to autocross, it is a great form of competition for cyclekarts.
I wish I lived closer to your events, I'd be at every one.

We have autocross planned for the 2019 Clarkdale GP (March 9, in Clarkdale, AZ)
We are calling it "time trials", but its in a parking lot circuit designed with cones.
That's "autocross" by definition.

I hope your events catch on.
We seem to be moving backwards in AZ in terms of number of cyclekart events and participation interest...

Seatbelts are the current hangup, we'll see what they decide.

I just want to do more racing. spend all this time working on the thing for a small amount of seat time.

I ran at an autocross last year it was an official SCCA SOLO event , I had to have the roll bar, and harness but it was something I was preparing anyway for the hillclimb events. The timing was automatic, a great event in a water park parking lot "off season" other than the timing and finding a legal location , you just need a bunch of small cones . If you were not out on the course you had to watch cones and replace them if they got knocked over.
