It all depends on where you're measuring the pedal stroke, and how long the pedal is.
I use Manco pedals. The cable pull is about 1", with an attach point also 1" from the pivot point. This results in almost 3.5" travel at the end of the pedal, which I really like. This is with a Mikuni.

I agree with that Dave. I went out and measured the toe movement on my
stock 50' Chevy Truck, it's around 3". My 1954 Chevy truck, 3".
My 2015 Silverado, around 3". My wife's 2018 Equinox, right around 3".
I'm working it out so the pedal will be adjustable from 2 to 3" full travel.

The reason 3" is nice on a cyclekart is that on a rough ride, your legs get to bouncing around a bit.
With the short throw, (which I used to have) it was more like a toggle switch, as Justin described.
I don't mean to be contrary. That's just been my experience.

That makes complete sense Dave, and hearing any and every
opinion is the reason I'm bothering to ask.
Funny how so many of these tiny details just get passed over
and never warrant a discussion. But discussing it can save a
lot of trial and error for a guy that's building a kart first time around.
Tks for the input guys.
