My first mock up of the engine compartment had the TAV clocking at 4 o'clock with the engine sitting over the axle. I was trying to have a compact setup that did not make the tail stick out too far. But after a made a "BigPrint" cyclekart scale sized cardboard cutout of the tail section from a picture of the actual inspiration car (Amilcar C6) I realized that the engine was sitting way too high to fit within the tail section for a proportionately scaled replica.
For my second mock up I dropped the engine mounting plate from 3" above the axle to 1.5" below the axle and slightly behind. I moved the TAV 180 degrees plus 1 bolt hole and now it fits in the tail section and also lowered the CG.
Vince.

Hi Vince
Your first clocking is what I used on my Miller and I like everything about it!
The second is what I am considering for the final on the Ice Racer except I still
like the idea of keeping the motor ahead of the axle for weight distribution.
Even though that lengthens the wheelbase.......which is not all bad, in that it keeps
your elbow away from the rear tire and smooths out your ride, but reduces your turning radius.
Oh......What to Do???confused smiley
