A lot of us old dudes are still living in the dark ages and
don't Facebook, or whatever you call it.
I'm pretty much an anti-socialist so I'm not into the social
media. Heck....it's a stretch for a lot of us to function here
on one of the forums. And believe it or not....some of us
old guys haven't spent most of our adult lives on the
golf course, sitting at the slots in the casino in our off
hours, parked in front of the football/basket ball/baseball/
hockey game or such. All those hours we've spent by ourselves
in the cold dark damp shops around the country, means we've
actually got something to offer. So, even though it's been really
dead around here lately, I'm still not givin' up on the Cyclekartclub
and bailing out just to land on a social media site and learn the
ropes all over again.

I'm not giving up on the forum! I'm just on social media more and it's quicker to post stuff so I thought I'd share another avenue to shoot the shit. Trust me, I've learned A LOT from you old dudes!

Cheers Denny! Now get out to the barn!

I too have a Facebook account, but never go there, as I find it frustrating and can't seem to figure it out???confused smiley
I will stay with the Forum.
It is more specific to my needs........just wish there was a little more action here.
I have seen Facebook kill other Forums I was a part of, and hope this doesn't happen to this great Forum.
For one, I will keep checking in here everyday!thumbs up

Oh been out thar all morning, since sun up. BIG snow forecasted for
tomorrow night, so I'm gettin' the blower tuned up, shovels out and
making room in the barn for the Kubota end loader.
Ran into a brick wall with my weld positioner project, have to re-engineer
the drive. The Dayton gear motor that was supposed to be r e a l s l o w
and it turned out its spinning 7 times as fast as it says on the tag. So.....
Gotta send it back and come up with another motor.

Here I thought I was the only one that couldn't figure out what was going
on with Facebook. All the kids, nieces and nephews and some of my
Stovebolt buddies are always sending me links to Facebook in my email
and I manage to see a picture but have no idea what it is or how to
respond to it. Hate to spend the time learning something new just to
have it fade away to something better, or more correctly, more friendly
and not quite as invasive.
For the last couple of years, this here forum has been my go to place when
ever I need a break from whatever. I check in on my way back to bed in the
middle of the night, check in when I'm in for a warm up or get called in for
a meal. Like right now.... just got back from a run to the pharmacy for
Sweetie face and she cut me a slice of her Birthday cake, (39,,,again).
I was thinkin' this morning while my hot beverage was brewing , the Pub,
or Greasy Spoon is the place where we should be keeping the conversation
going when we're drawn away from the Karts for a spell. I know some people
personally are sick of hearing anything not CK related, but there is more going
on in my life than just the Kart and I'm sure that's true of most of us.
Now.......back to the barn, and since I'm in the clean up mode.....think I'll try to
make some room for the Riley. She looks pretty pitiful standing up on her hind
quarter over against the wall. I'd really like to get her down on all four before
Christmas.

I don't see going over to another forum on Facebook or anything else as traitorous. There's good things to say about both sites. I started here, and will be here quite often, but I'll hang out there too. I don't see it pulling anything away from here, it's just that some people are a bit frustrated about where we're headed. There really is more and more extraneous topicology going on here. Now I don't see a thing wrong with someone building a cyclekart as electric as if we snub that I feel that's where the future inevitively is headed. I do feel "cyclecars" have a place here but in another forum. It's kinda like a sidecar riding sight being innundated with road racing. They're related, but very distant kissing cousins who are better separated a bit. I'm not knocking anyone or anything you want to build, but until we can actually have a discussion on what exactly a cyclekart is, and more important isn't we're going to have this. Once you water something down far enough it loses its flavor. On the otherhand, once you set down in stone a fixed set of rules and regulations you lose a lot of people who have interest, but are just into other projects. I just don't want this site to have an influx of 1000cc go karts capable of 140 mph all over the place, a pedal car invasion, or the ever growing performance thrill seekers. Nothing against them, just not the place for it. I know that cyclecars are the inspiration for our builds, I get that, and I enjoy some of the cyclecar technical conversations concerning converting the tech to a cyclekart. So there you have it. My 5 cents worth. When I leave this world all I ask is that my children fare well and I leave no enemies behind. So no insult intended, although I have probably ruffled some feathers. God Bless.

I don't think Facebook will be going away (to many people feeling the need to show a picture of what they are having for lunch or a stupid pet costume)
any time in the future........But, it is just not for me,
I have too much to do already without another distraction.
Love you guys here on the Forum.thumbs up
Keep sharing you info that is relevant to "CycleKarts" and we will all be grateful.smiling bouncing smiley

Definitely wasnt intending to create a divide, just sharing another option for those that are interested. I will still be posting on both for anyone that cares!

For God sake guys.........lighten up! This is a discussion, no one has a "problem" that I can see.
We're simply voicing opinions. Seems like every time someone tries to add a little humor or
a different view of something, there always has to be someone with a belly full of beer
that misinterprets the intent and feels like the chips been knocked of their shoulder.
Social media offers a multitude of outlets. If you've got a "problem", take it to one
of the outlets that thrives on flaming or duking it out with anyone that disagrees.
Not speaking for Brian, but is sounds like he's saying the same thing as me.
That is, that this is a great forum or we wouldn't have been hanging around it
for a couple of years. Just that Facebook isn't our choice and this is a much
easier venue for sharing our hobby. A lot of guys are posting CK stuff over
on FB, I believe the AZ guys have had something going over there for
quite a while now. I've gone over there but as posted earlier, I just don't
get it. Seems to random, like everyone there is talking at once in incomplete
sentences and thoughts, something like the Chat room here. Tried that
a few times last year and it doesn't fit my style either, but it surely didn't
create a "problem", I just don't participate.
Oh yeah, posted this after me and the mutt came in from our middle of
the night walk, and I got a belly full of warm milk, which washes all my
"problems" away and gives me a nice warm feeling inside....much
better than a beer.

Never personally have done the book of faces, I don't understand it, leave it for wifey and kids (they also don't get or understand how forums work, so we cover all bases as a family) tongue sticking out smiley
