Danged if it ain't one thing or another that's keeping me from getting on
with my projects.
Woke up Saturday morning with a sharp burning feeling in my left hip. Pain
was shooting up my left side and down my left thigh. Have been having trouble
standing, real wobbly and my left leg gives out on me. Managed to stand in front
of the lathe and turn out one of the hubs for the welding positioner yesterday
afternoon and got a couple hours in this morning before the tears started to flow.
Sweetie face thinks it's a pinched sciatic nerve but I din't do anything to cause it,
like lifting or twisting the wrong way.
Well since the Advil hasn't helped for three days, I figured it's time to see the
sawbones. Got an appointment Tuesday after lunch. In the mean time......all
projects are on hold........again!!!!!
Hope this isn't the beginning of the end for this old body, but it sure feels like it!!!

Sounds like sciatica to me, my experience is that it can strike when you're doing the innocuous thing. My experience is it comes on quickly, then clears gradually, have to concentrate on moving in a way that minimises pain, don't twist, if you need to look behind you turn around completely.

At the moment I'm stuck with a Ford Fiesta hire car which is aggravating my sciatica, hopefully it won't cause a full blown flare up before it goes back Friday.

Yep Chris, pretty sure that's the culprit. Makes me want to lay on the
sofa a snooze all the time, really uncomfortable.
And......the pills that mother gives me......don't do anything at all!

We'll see what Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman has to say tomorrow.
I'm betting on an MRI. I to will want to find out where the wires are
shorting out.
Had a bad experience with Witch doctors back in the 70's Al.
That was enough to turn me off to them. And have since, over
the years heard lots of reports of bad results, my mother in law
for one.
Gotta go take another handful of Advil and crawl back to the sofa.

Denny,
Hope your appointment went well. Don't let it get you down I have that same pain you have off and on for 15 years many times it's been bad enough I've lost strength in my right leg. Between the meds to reduce inflammation and a chiropractor I can still function as long as I don't do something stupid. There have been times just bending over it starts. I've stayed away from surgery so one comment if you have a bad experience at a dentist you don't stop going you find another dentist.

Took a half dozen X-rays and started me on a 6 day steroid burst pac. We'll see in
a week if this gets any better.
Found some thinning of the bone and a little arthritis. Gotta get better, heck, I've still
got 24 more summers of bouncing round on a tractor mowing grass and beating round
the pasture if I ever finish up the Riley.

We have a tendency to tough through it and at our age it's not a good thing. If that is the same meds I took 6 the first day 5 the second and so on, they saved my bacon from losing the use of my right leg. Looking for a quick recovery for you.

That be the one Al. About to finish up the first day. Doc. Quinn the Medicine Woman
says we should see some results after 48 hours.
I've been sleeping dang near all the time since this came on. Not sure if it's the meds
or the constant pain that's got me wore out.
Night all!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, even bounced around on the John Deere last week and mowed for 6 hours. Seemed to
feel better after that, go figure. It bothers me most now when I lay down.
But.......I've got to admit, it's getting better, a little better all the time.
Been back at my latest project, the Rotary Weld Positioner I'm making that is.
Still spending more time getting ready to get on with the Cyclekart than building
the kart. After all.....a cyclekart isn't smack dab at the top of my priority list.
But just think how much easier the next one will be.
