Over on this side, our events haven't promised a winner much more than a good time.
Nothing like prize money, certainly. So my sense has been that the width thing, like the engine and wheel size guidelines have mostly to do with maintaining the esthetic and continuity of the group of cars running around together. Of course, no one wants to send a participant home over anything that isn't a pretty flagrant effort at superior performance. We're all car people, and we know cheating when we see it. We also recognize when a builder, having made a good faith effort, still miscalculates and ends up a little out of spec.
As C/K event organizers, are we searching for a reason to exclude an entry? No. We want a nice event, full of cool cars. If anything, you're looking for excuses to let people run. When someone is clearly trying to push the envelope out for advantage, they rightly should expect the goodwill of the host to diminish.

As a way to hit as many of the UK guys (not physically). Can you message me or email on cyclekartinggb@gmail.com so we can progress planning for the Great British Cyclekart Meet up in September.

Hi,

I have recently joined the forum and am UK based (on the Surrey/Berkshire border). My son and I are hoping to build a T35 Bugatti inspired car. We're working on the design, collecting bits (and getting planning permission for a garage!).

All and any pointers to where UK folks buy components would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi again Stefan, as I said in the emails and messages, Gemini Karts are one very good source, otherwise it's Ebay and finding local suppliers. i can still source that steel for you if you need.
Hopefully others may chip in to help.

Stefan,

I got my steel from The Metal Store, as I needed steel for the trailer too, I got the free postage: https://www.themetalstore.co.uk/products/16swg-1-6mm-thick-mild-steel-rectangular-box-section. I've sourced everything else off ebay, apart from the coil springs which came from Aliexpress.

Thanks for the various pointers. Anyone happy to share links for rear axles and hubs?

In reply to # 34223 by Stefann Thanks for the various pointers. Anyone happy to share links for rear axles and hubs?

As mentioned above - Gemini Karts stock a lot of useful parts http://www.geminikarts.co.uk/our-shop/

Being UK based their axles/hubs tend to be metric (25mm) rather than imperial (1"winking smiley

I would be making my own if I were you Stefan, or have a look at what Gemini have to offer and see how they would do.

Hi Folks,I’m Uk based ( mid Wales border near Welshpool) just making a start on my first CycleKart.
I’m a builder of all sorts. Just finishing my lifesize scratch built Robby the Robot. I’ve restored bubblecars and VWs and built a kit car in the past. I’m very keen to hook up with other Uk based builders. I’ll defiantly be up for builders meet and racing. There seems to be a Facebook group but no one has aprooved my membership so I thought I would start here.
Is there anyone in my area ? Midlands, mid Wales etc
Regards Steve Cole

Hi Steve, Wes, who was the person who looked after the Facebook page has moved aaay from the hobby, and we are still trying to figure how to change that role.
Anyhow, I am in the Midlands, Tamworth, Chris in South Wales, Graham in Leicester, and our first meet was near Leicester in September.
Don't hesitate to be in contact, the group is growing.

Hi Rhys, I run several Facebook groups. Wes needs to make someone else a moderator and let that person run the site. It’s dead easy. I’ll help you if you need it
