The seating area looks really small though - only 459mm from dash cowl to headrest? Are you sure that's enough room to get in and out of your car?

great drawings but I cannot find any specs on the cross member siting, ie. inches from the front or back? Also drawings as to suspending the floor from the chassis bottom. thanks guys. IM BUILDING ONE IN WOOD TO GET EVERYTHING RIGHT BEFORE i TACKLE THE METAL.

I moved my axle back, and mounted the engine in front, there was lots of room.

Some frames taper to the front, many are rectangular boxes. Width can be determined by the size of the driver.

I built mine for comfort, and have a large cockpit so I don’t have to remove the steering wheel to get in.

Justin, what you're seeking is the pine box that the side rails bolt to, this can vary on the size of the occupant. Most need the box to be 18" clear inside. The side rails get connected front and back with a bar, or a piece of ready rod with a tube over it.

As Vic describes, there really are no cross members as such in the actual
Stevenson design. Just the wood monocoque box structure with the frame rails bolted onto the sides,
the engine mount at the back, and that spreader at the front. Cross members were added (needlessly some would say) by later builders.
