As many of you know last December I crashed the Monocar into a pole which put the car out of commission. The Monocar was not at Tieton because of that incidence. After the car sat idle for months I was finally able to get to work repairing the body damage. The attached video "The Monocar returns" documents that process. I already posted this video here in the forum awhile back but I wanted to have it as part of this Monocar related thread.

After I had the car up and running again I decided to do some much needed upgrades. I have three years of racing around on the chassis and things were pretty loose.

The attached video "Rebuilding the Monocar" is the first in a series showing the process rebuilding several items, this one related to the front axle, spindles and tie rods.

Future upgrades will include a differential, hydraulic brakes and new rear rims and hubs. I am currently filming part 2, the differential install, which will be posted later in September.

Here is the 2nd video in the Rebuilding the Monocar Series. My focus in this segment is to install a new differential. I have been running the one wheel drive/freewheel arraignment for the last 4 years and it has served me well. I have put a ton of hours on this chassis and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Since the rebuilding of the body after my crash and the upgrading to the front axle I decide to refurbish the entire car. My thinking was a new paint job initially but then I got a wild hair to try to install a differential. As you will see in the video this will be a very nice upgrade.

Great Job Dennis!
And it has come at the perfect time for at least 3, maybe 4 of our B.C.Chapter members that are or will be at that stage of their builds, using that very same set up!
Hope those guys watch you r video.
Just a quick reminder that the 54 tooth sprocket (like the one you took off) from VKC, likes the #41 chain better than the #40......less side slope that would end up with the chain eating a groove in the Torque Converter housing. Just a tip!
Good Roads
Brian
PS
I am working on my aluminum tub as we speak.

Continuing on with the Monocar rebuild now. In video #3 I install the brake caliper and brake line then fabricate the new pedals. The upgrades are coming together nicely and the chassis is much improved. The car drives like a dream! I am pushing hard to finish the car and get her back on the road (and back on the Studebaker). We have a busy season planned and I want to drive the Monocar.

I'm working everyday to have the Monocar ready for Tieton 1 month from now. I still have a lot to do but I'm enjoying every minute! As of right now, all the painting is complete along with the first stage of assembly, getting the chassis on it's wheels.
