Hi Owen
Welcome to the Forum and the World of CycleKarts.
First the specs and rules on the Giitreville site.
Next............ familiarize yourself with the Stevenson Formula.
Third............THINK LIGHT!

Frames are made from 1"x 3" .063 wall rectangular tubing (don't buy .125 wall as it is exactly twice the weight) THINK LIGHT!
20 ft required to build your frame.
Wheels......acquaint yourself with Jack Gee at VKC (Vintage Kart Co,) he has brand new wheels, spindles, rear hubs, front springs, bearings, and more, at very reasonable prices .......Cheaper than eBay, and or fabricating or machining yourself.
Steering .......BMI has go kart parts, including rotors, brakes, steering joints, shafts, axles, etc.
Motor........Harbour Freight Preditor 212 $99.95 when on sale.
Torque Converter.......make sure it is a genuine "Comet" not a copy.
Tires, tubes, liners,........ebay watch for best prices c/w shipping. They change everyday and have gone up quite a bit over the last year, but be patient.
Read as much here on the Forum and ask more questions, there is a lot of Talent here on the Forum.

What are you thinking of as your inspiration car? And what is your area of expertise?
Good Roads
