Had a little trouble today.
Both front springs broke at the same time in the same place.
I'm thinking if I would have put a plate on the top and bottom of the spring to extend past the holes in the spring it would have relieved the stress on the holes ?
YAY!! something else to figure out sad smiley
What do you think ?

Those we're the "buggy" springs, right!
And yes, they have a history of breaking. Ask Dennis Thomas.
Too many holes!!!confused smiley
You need VKC springs!
Are you coming to Tieton?
If so will bring you a set so you can race, as Dennis is already enroute.
But, maybe Carlos has not left yet??

That axle mount puts a shear point awfully close to that hole.

VKC Springs only have one hole and way better "bushed eyes"!
Like real car springs.

Yes they are buggy springs.
I'm not going to Tieton.
I did have bushings in the eyes.
I'll have to check out the VKC springs .
Thanks guys

I went to VKC website but couldn't find any specks (measurements) on the springs.
I need the length and width. Are they the same as the buggy springs ?

VKC springs are 23" centre of eye to centre of eye.

Thanks Brian
What is the width ?
It looks to have a different curve from center out on one end to the other. Or its just the way I'm viewing it.
I just don't want to make a lot of changes to get a set of springs to fit

Hey Al, the same thing happened to me last year (I had tacked a plate onto the spring at that spot and the weld weakened the spring). If you save those old springs you can use a section to double up your next spring, made mine stronger a little stiffer:

I run the buggy springs. Though my engine is up front and I have 3 leafs I still run a Poly bushing between the spring and mounting perch. Could do that but if your buying them anyway might just go the VKC ones.

I still have the other half of my buggy seat springs that I'm going to use , but the holes in the eyes are only 1/4", but maybe grade8 bolts will hold up ? and I'll be adding the extra leaf and see were that gets me.
If this fails then VKC springs it will be.
