I'm really looking forward to seeing how those springs turn out. Did you ever decide whether or not to put the holes in your frame rails?

Since I had a year to think about it while working on all the other projects,
I came to the conclusion that;
no.1 - I didn't want to weaken the frame with a bunch of holes.
no.2 - It would be a real pain in the ars putting the holes in the
kickups and goose neck.
no.3 - It would be a bigger pain in the ars cleaning the dirt, gravel,
cigarette butts and mice out of the tubing.
no.4 - Welding tubes in to the holes to close up the side rails would
simply introduce another source of warpage to the welding.
I threw in the towel on the beam front axle which felt like I took the smile
off the front of my Riley so the plans to make a mini Riley monoposto
exact in every detail to the original, got shelved in the interest of getting
the wheels on the ground this summer.
After all the work I put into the forge and quench tank, I hope the springs
turn out the way I planned them. Time will tell, and as soon as we get
a break in the weather, I'll give them a try.

Yo Dennis,

Wally here.
I have been busy with my apprentice training and I am finally getting a chance to do some serious work and make some serious cash to get going on my shop so I can start my CycleKart build

I have sighed up for 70 hours of metal shaping with Wray Scheill(sp). He and I hit it off pretty good and he is going to give me some extra attention to get me going.

I am hoping to be moving to Laconia, NH in a few months. Got a lot of racing stuff going on over there.

Laconiia Motorcycle week , NASCAR at the New Hampshire Race Way just to name a couple.

I am hoping that I can show my CycleKart at a couple of car shows and I want to show up at a few Crusing Night at the Drive In deals to see if there is any interest in the CycleKart game.

I am off for a week and then I am back to work doing 7/12's for 6 weeks.

Hope you are doing well with your machine building so that you can start on that MIller.

Catch you on the next bounce!!!!
