Hi Guys,

We are in the early planning stages right now. But it looks like we will be having a small Grand Prix Race in Clarkdale, AZ March 10, 2018. 9AM till 2PM

Clarkdale, AZ is a small town near Cottonwood and not far from Sedona, AZ. It has a lovely city square with a band stand like all small American Towns should have. Last summer I met the Mayor and some of the town leaders at their annual July 4th picnic. I told them that their town looked a lot like Tieton, WA and would they like to have a Cyclekart race. They invited us to a second meeting in August, Dennis Thomas and I brought our kart to show and tell.

The town hosts a large car show each year and we will be doing our event in conjunction with the car show. The town is offering to let us run our karts in the town hall parking lot (See photo). It looks to be about 600' in length and perfect for keeping the speeds down and the fun up!

This is all preliminary, I just wanted to give you all a heads up because March 10 will be here soon.

If you want to drive in the event let me know.

If you want to volunteer also let me know.

I will update here as we move forward.

BTW>>>not trying to replace Tieton GP...this is a much smaller event.

Thanks Steve for making the initial contact with the Clarksdale folks! You have a good eye seeing that Clarksdale is the perfect town to host a grand Prix in the image of Tieton. This could be one hell of an event ongoing and great PR for the town. Nice work my friend!

For those interested searching, Clarkdale it is 100 miles north of Phoenix Near Cottonwood and Jerome Arizona. It is a very small township but the folks are friendly and very proud of the history of their community.

Good job guys, even the back drop looks like Tieton. Now you have to find a rural dust bowl to bomb around in on Sunday.

Here is a short video clip of our race coarse scouting mission this past Friday afternoon.

The track is located in the Town Hall parking lot, it is short enough to keep the speed under control and long enough to be fun.

In the attached photo, it shows the approximate racing line.

I will be driving from Tucson to Sedona that day. Hopefully we can stop by and see the race. Please post schedule of events, times etc. as you get them. Thanks

The event will be going from 9AM till 2PM. I will post a schedule once we have that worked out, but we will be running pretty much non stop during that time.

I will see what I can do to get there as well...

Looking at how to transport my Kart now, I'm not sure it will fit in the back of my Pickup... which my wife won't want to ride in for the 3-4 hour trip up there LOL

Just got the insurance quote back today!

We are gonna have a race!

Entry fee right now will be $100 per kart. Let me know if you want to come play.

I need the money mailed to me ASAP as I have to pre-pay for the insurance.

If we collect more than actual cost, I will divide and repay the participants the surplus.

Update!

Racing action from 9AM till 2PM!

Everything is all set. If you make the trip to Clarkdale, make sure you say HI. We could us some volunteers for corner workers and talking to the public about our karts.

If you want an event T--Shirt.....let me know. Jon Roddewig (AZ Roddy) is designing and printing them for us. We may have some extras to sell at the event.

Right now we have 7 karts entered in the event and 3 maybes. Not to shabby for our first organized event.
