TIETON 6 is less than 3 months away!
June 15, 16 and 17.
Grand Marshal Alphonse Roche has declared registration open, and I have been given the honor of making this announcement.

The event will be similar to previous years but more relaxed — fewer fussy Gittreville peculiarities. Tieton has grown too too big for those!
No particular “rules” will cover the cars. All “cyclekarts” are welcome.

Registration categories are outlined below:

1. Team: (maximum of 2 cars, includes 2 drivers) $250.00.
Covers three days insurance for the two designated drivers, each of which must have a valid driver’s license. Also provides indoor pit parking in the Mighty Tieton warehouse. Cars must be finished with all bodywork securely fastened, no half-built projects will be accepted. Only one car from the team may be entered in any given event. Each team must list cars and drivers. The drivers will need to volunteer at one event each. The volunteer coordinator will assign each driver an event to volunteer.

2. Driver: $50.00 (covers insurance) Must have a valid driver’s license. The drivers will need to volunteer at one event each. The volunteer coordinator will assign each driver an event to volunteer.

3. Volunteer: Free, must be available Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm.

Registration will run until May 15th with costs going up to $300/ $75 after that.
The absolute last day to register will be June 1.

After making payment, please e-mail Brandice Worley with your car and driver details. If interested in volunteering e-mail Brandice.

I have requested as much information as can be reliably passed along to those interested in participating in
this great event. I know that some changes have been made, and the thing will have a different feel to it this year. For those who may be unaware of it, the long high speed Gordon Bennett race has been cancelled for this year, but there should be plenty of heat racing in the city G.P. events. Instead of a limited Concourse, there will be a big cyclekart show in the town square. The Dreaded (or beloved) Campbell Cup orchard race will now be timed runs, instead of wheel to wheel heats. Personally, I suspect that the speeds may actually be higher without the traffic in a few choke points. Still plenty brutal, this one is more car vs track anyway. If you want to test your build, this is the place.

More as I get it.

So, does that all mean that it's open now and not just an invitational event????
In other words, there are going to be as many karts allowed to participate that
show up for the event? I thought there was some talk a while back about limiting
the number of karts, mostly just to the regulars.
Not that I would do it or even come close to having a kart ready, but it would be
an awfully big disappointment if a guy traveled half way cross the continent and
then didn't get to run his kart.

That Denny, is apparently exactly what it means. They feel it has outgrown the exclusivity thing and needs
to open up. That said, I suspect there must be some maximum number, but for now there's only the June
deadline for entry. There will be a lot of karts.

Well it's none of my business, I'm not in on the organization, not even
in on the participation. But, I'm not in on making a movie or recording, but
I do have an opinion about them and other things that I observe.
I think having an open meet is great for the hobby. What they can do
to control the number of karts that are in final particapation is have
qualifications. A lot more than 33 cars try out for Indy, but only those
that can cut the mustard make the show. I see nothing wrong with that
for a Cyclekart meet also. It can do nothing but encourage builders to
take more time and do a better job. Competition is a dirty word to a lot
of the guys that are into this hobby, but competition is very necessary
if it's gonna grow to be a national or international hobby.
This in no way would prevent a hobby builder from getting together with
a hand full of his buddies in a local parking lot or neighbors pasture.

And that is the "Feel" at Tieton........it is a small town, and the participants are all like minded Fun seekers!
Whom all become "Buddies" by the end of the weekend.

Tieton will be an open registration event for all cyclekarts.
That said, an entry must be, by the accepted standard recognized on this forum, a cyclekart.
The basic parameters, wheels, tires, engine/Tav etc, all still apply.
As of now, no limit has been placed on the number of entries, but Gittreville anticipate that a limit may be imposed by the town officials at some point. So, if you are serious about participating and I hope you do,
don't wait long to register. If you have any questions about the event, just ask here. If I don't have an answer, I'll
get one.

Sweet.

I believe I will come up. It's only 10 hours from me.

Is my Kart ok?

Over think it... and you'll probably fail.

Sure it is Kelly, that's only a stop for lunch away.
If I could make the trip in half a day, that might just be
the incentive I need for to get off my duff and finish this
dang thing up instead of nit pickin' it to death.

Just an odd question, will this even always fall on father's day weekend?

The last two years it fell the week following, but this year for some reason it had to land on it.
Not handy, unless the family's into it I guess.

Last year it was starting on June 23. That was the 4th weekend in the month.

I have a question for those that are coming to Tieton but don't have their kart or it's not finished yet. Both of mine are American cars and by the new rules
they can't be run at the same time in one event. So I need a team to drive one of them.
