This is my modern version of a McDonough buckboard. I saw a few pictures and decided to build one. Not exactly a cycle kart but still a blast to drive!

Hello, Jim! Interesting chose of original vehicle as inspiration car - and, realized it in general and details as an exact replica. As McDonough buckboard from the fifties was a replica of Red-Bug or B&S Flyer from the vintage era, you made the excellent replica of the simplest cyclecar build ever. It was always my favourite because of general style and simplicity of build, lightweight too! Do you know what is the weight of your CK? Regards, Zoran

Thanks! The wheels are 16 in horse cart units from Kingston saddlery. The came in black but I had them re -powdered to racer red. The picture does not reproduce the color accurately. I'm not sure of the actual weight, but its pretty easy to lift. I made it one board wider than the original due to my behind being wider than a kid of the 60's!

Sure! The wheelbase is 69 in. Front and rear track are 40.5 in. Seat is 40 in wide. Rear bed is 36 l x 34.5w. Steering wheel is 11 in. Tires are 16 x 2.50. Overall length is 104 in. Powered by a Hemi 212cc. CVT trans and disc brake for rr wheel. Lr is free wheeling. I saw pictures of the original and eye-ball engineered it . It came out looking good!

Hello, Jim! Thank you for very useful information... Last days I spent collected some more photos, of originals and replicas and comparing a few more information. It seems that your replica is a little bigger than original, that could be the right size for me, too. Your CK is very proportional and cute. One day to hear your impressions from cruising, especially if you had a passenger... Regards, Zoran
