“The Old Vespa”
I bought this 1964 Vespa VNB 5T with 1761 original miles on 3 August 2015 for the purpose of restoring it to like new condition. The first owner passed away 35 years ago and his wife finally decided it was time to sell it. The scooter has not been on the road for the past 48 years. The last state inspection expired on 31 December 1967, and it has not been ridden since, although it was started approximately once every few years. After wiping down the paint with acetone and polishing the paint and chrome, this scooter looks almost like new, so I decided to not restore it, but rather leave it original. I only need to replace the faded speedometer face and bezel. It is registering it as an antique with an original 1964 Pennsylvania Motorcycle license plate. PA allows the use of Year of Manufacture license plates for antique vehicles.
