has been a long road, four years... dumbshit I am...ovk that settled...
I have had the car running since end 2014, after 21 year hiatus(clutch things
I too busy)... so finally back to running... 2014/2015... if fitfully.
in 2017, august I felt I had conquered it... finally ran well... or seemed to...
progressivly have made it a little bit better. today! I revisited "Idle trimming screws" describe page 40/41 owners handbook and elsewhere... describing these screws, springloaded on strombergs as "not ordinary mixture adjusting screws..." but also screws to be turned fully home when engine is "run in"
..the ear will note hear a difference in the state of this screw... so, I never paid much attention... until today...(37000 miles oi figure engine is run in.. broken in qwe calls it
I turned each of these, one per carb all the way in or "closed", it is what the manuals say to do...
in two test drives has seemed to make yet another Incremental improvement'in my quest for correct running, stock car... and I decree it has done so...
get the timing right, ignition timing right, carb balance correct, jet settings correct (that will always be debate point...)and these mysterious idle trim screws.. turned allway clockwise shut...
The engine is a banshee! It will never be more (in my care) than the factory 104/106hp inline six for usa 1974 market... but today it kept up with traffic with no drama... smooth as glass accelleration... stunned me... i need to re-read the owner handbook...driving home the idle trimming screws... seems to have
cured many ills all at once... (I hope gas mileage improves)...running... it does make a difference... happy camper today...
